Recently I discovered the song “lonely at the top” sang by a Nigerian singer Asake. I was touched by the first sentence; the singer was speaking to a virtual assistant technology stating:
“Isn’t it crazy how you can have all the success in the world and still feel alone? … What can you do about it?”
The loneliness at work of a senior leader, an entrepreneur, a CEO, a chairman is a feeling that has been observed over the years now. Overwhelmed by responsibilities and the pressure of not showing their vulnerabilities, leaders are facing high stress at work that include lack of sleep and other disorders.
According to Christopher Bergland, The Athlete’s Way : “Loneliness increases stress hormones that can cause illness and premature death”.
What can you do about it?
